Can I apply?

If you are between the ages of 16 to 19-years-old and live in East London you can apply. 

 

I don't have an idea what should I do? 

 

You can build on one of our previous projects or work with fellow students on their ideas. 

What areas of health can my idea address? 

 

There are no limits on what areas you can work on. Students commonly work on areas such as obesity, diabetes, drug use, crime, pollution and mental health.  

Do I have to attend all six sessions? 

 

All six sessions are compulsory as they cover key areas of leadership and health knowledge. If there is a session you cannot attend, please notify your group lead and we can make arrangements for you to catch up. ​

How often are the sessions? 

 

The sessions happen every month usually on a Saturday between 10am to 3pm. 

I am a healthcare professional how can I get involved? 

 

We need healthcare professionals to be group leads and to mentor the students. If you are interested, please click on the volunteer button above for more opportunities. 

I work in education how can I get involved?

Do you have grade entry requirements?

No, we do not have any minimum grade entry requirements.

 

I don’t live in East London can I still apply?

Unfortunately, if you do not live in East London we cannot accept you on to our programme at the moment. Please sign up to our newsletter where we regularly share helpful tips and resources to help you with applying for university.

You can also inform your teacher to email us to see if we can set up a talk or workshop at your school. For more information about our offer to school please go to our Outreach section.

I don’t know my predicted grades can I still apply?

 

No. Your predicted grades are an important part of the application. We need your predicted grades to help us in matching you with a suitable mentor, and to tailor activities to meet your needs. We also accept your target grades, if you're unable to provide predicted grades.

I studied outside of the UK before Year 12 can I still apply?

 

Yes, of course! We ask that you convert any grades from outside of the UK into the UK system. You should talk to your teacher for help with this.

Can I start my application and then finish it at another time?

 

Unfortunately not. You need to submit your application in one go. So please ensure that you have all the necessary information ready, and before you click the submit button that you go through your application and proof-read everything again.

What qualifications do I need?

There are no specific qualifications. We are looking to work with anyone that works in the education or health sector. You must have an up-to-date DBS.   

 

What age group do you work with? 

There is no specific age group, however, we do focus on major health issues such as obesity. 

What schools do you work with? 

We work with any schools in East London.

Who is Amar Doctor targeted for?

 

At the moment, we are running two different programs. One program is open to all women and focused on health education for Bangladeshi women aged 30+. Our second program which is due to be launched is targeted towards younger Bangladeshi girls in sixth form/college (ages 16-18).

 

Is the program only open to Bangladeshi women in the UK?

No, Bangladeshi women all over the world are welcome to join our sessions!

 

What language are your workshops held in?

Our workshops for older women are in Bangla.

Our workshops for students will be in English. 

 

How do I join a workshop?

  1. Send an email ad@healthpioneerscharity.com to register for a session.

  2. You will be added to a group where you will receive a Zoom link.

  3. On the day of the workshop, click on the link and join!
